The flags flew at half mast today
When the flags go down
sometimes it means
something has gone wrong
someone has given up
someone has found a gun
a cry has gone out
a killer is born
hell has found a way
sin has found a path
the world has gone cold
the lights have grown dim
the sun has been told
'shine no more
today'
hope was shoved aside
hate will have its day
as darkness
when the flags go down
lives will be changed
and as sure as the sparks fly upward
life will go on...
someone say a prayer
someone call a cop
someone get a gun
